Bob Patten knapping presentations on Sat. and Sun the 20 & 21st. Marty Rueter knapping demo on Fri. the 19th. Other sessions will include, braintanning, basketry, gourd art, primitive pottery, Sharps rifles and muzzleloaders, natural dyes, edible and medicinal plant usage, and more. Free primitive camping. Knapping Demo
A rare opportunity to watch and learn from one of the best Abo knappers
in the world today. Bob was awarded the Don Crabtree Award by the
Society for American Archeology recently at their annual convention which was
held in Canada this year. The past several years at Beaver Creek Knap-In and Primitive
Skills Gathering, Bob has produced Edens, Folsoms, Clovis, Goshen, and side
notch points to name just a few. A few of the many techniques he's covered at
the Beaver Creek Knap-Ins include: direct percussion Folsom fluting with an
antler billet, direct percussion Clovis fluting, the minute edge retouch on
Folsom points, holding techniques for Extreme thinning as well as regular
thinning of bifaces, how to produce the pronounced median ridge that is
typical of Eden points, sequential edge flaking, hammerstone percussion, his
unique right leg knapping style, and much more. Bob's new book "Peoples of the
Flute, a study in Anthropolithic Forensics is now available at Stone Dagger

Bob Patten, Lakewood Co., was recently awarded the Crabtree Award by the Society for American Archeology in Montreal. Bob is highly regarded as one of the top knappers in the world today. Bob is the author of 2 books, "Old Tools-New Eyes", and "Peoples of the Flute-a study in anthropolithic forensics."
This is an educational hands-on learning event featuring a variety of primitive skills such as Flintknapping, which is the ancient process of making stone tools and projectile points.
Spend a day, or camp with us and view or experience as much of the hands-on primitive skills as you like.
View displays of Native American crafts and learn techniques used to
produce them.
